Raised in Brookline Massachusetts, Dara was first exposed to art by her mother, a renown weaver, and her father, who loves photography and painting. She learned to draw and sculpt at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts School where she and her sister went to art classes every Saturday morning while growing up. She received a Bachelor of Science from Skidmore College majoring in Fine Art and Art History and a certificate in graphic design from Rhode Island School of Design Continuing Education. Dara’s whimsical artwork has appeared in numerous kinds of publications from Your Big Backyard Magazine to The New York Times. She has created animations with 360KID for On-Demand Television, and educational software with Fablevision for learning.com. In order to inspire others to imagine and create, Dara developed a program which she presents to elementary schools, universities and libraries.
